Allaah's Names: الأول  الآخر  الظاهر  الباطن

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas:

Abu Zumayl said: I asked Ibn Abbas, saying:

What is that I find in my breast?

He asked: What is it?

I replied: I swear by Allah, I cannot speak about it.

He asked me: Is it something doubtful? and he laughed.

He then said: No one could escape that, until Allah, the exalted, revealed:

"If thou went in doubt as to what we have revealed unto thee, and ask those who have been reading the Book from before thee."

He said: If you find something in your heart, say:

He is the first and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent, and He has full knowledge of all things.

Allaah's names mentioned in du'aa before sleep

al Awwal, al Aakhir, al Baatin and adh Daahir as part of the du'aa:

Suhail reported that Abu Salih used to command us (in these words):
When any one of you intends to go to sleep, he should lie on the bed on his right side and then say:
" O Allah. the Lord of the Heavens and the Lord of the Earth and Lord of the Magnificent Throne, our Lord, and the Lord of evervthina, the Splitter of the grain of corn and the datestone (or fruit kernal), the Revealer of Torah and Injil (Bible) and Criterion (the Holy Qur'an), I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of every- thing Thou art to sieze by the forelock (Thou hast perfect control over it). O Allah, Thou art the First, there is naught before Thee, and Thou art the Last and there is naught after Thee, and Thou art Evident and there is nothing above Thee, and Thou art Innermost and there is nothing beyond Thee. Remove the burden of debt from us and relieve us from want."
Abu Salih used to narrate it from Abu Huraira who narrated it from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ).

Name 5 Al Ilaah

The Name 'Al Ilaah' is found in the Qur'aan.

Example from the Qur'aan:

2:163

The Name Al-Ilaah The One who deserves to be worshipped is found in the Qur’aan in many places.

وَإِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ لَّا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ

“And your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God - Allah), La ilaha illa Huwa (there is none who has the right to be worshipped but He), the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.”

[Sooratul Baqarah 2:163]

“…while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilah (God - Allah) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He).” [Tawbah 9:31]

The word ilaah can refer to Allaah the one deserving of worship and also to other than Allaah that is worshipped in falsehood. The word ‘Allaah’ is said to come from the word ‘ilaah’ but the word Allaah can only refer to the One True God worthy of worship.

Summarized Explanation of the Understanding of Allaah’s Beautiful Names[1]
By Shaykh ‘AbdurRazzaaq al Badr

Allaah
‘Allaah’ is a magnificient Name from the Beautiful Names of Allaah. The Name Allaah occurs the most in the Qur’aan out of all the other names. It occurs over 1200 times which no other name does. The Name ‘Allaah’ the Majestic and Exalted, begins 33 aayaat.
Some of the people of knowledge hold that ‘Allaah’ is Allaah’s greatest Name, that if He is called upon with it He answers and if He is asked with it He gives.
This Name has special characteristics which is specific to it. One of which is that it is the foundation for all the Beautiful Names of Allaah and all the Names are under it.

وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا
And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them,
[Suratul 'Araaf 7:180]

The Name ‘Allaah’ carries the meanings of all the Beautiful Names, it refers to them in general and the Beautiful Names are the details and clarifies the Divine Attributes which are the Perfect, Majestic and Mighty Attributes. ‘Allaah’ is the Name that all the others refer back to and it encompasses all their meanings.
The most concise and best saying about the meaning of ‘Allaah’ is what is narrated by Ibn ‘Abbaas رضي الله عنه when he said,
“Allaah – the One who has the right to be taken as a deity and worshipped by the whole of creation.” Taken from Ibn Jarir in his Tafseer. This means that Allaah with these Attributes of Majesty, Perfection and Might deserves to be worshipped and singled out alone with humility, humbleness and submission.
